In keeping with our mission to preserve and promote Frederick Hammersley's artistic legacy, The Frederick Hammersley Foundation provides funds for conservation of his paintings in public collections. Our intent is that by providing for their care, this initiative will encourage the exhibition of these works which otherwise may not be shown and accessible to the public.

All applicants must submit a completed application form and all supplemental materials.

Any non-profit public collection in the United States that owns artworks by Frederick Hammersley is eligible to apply.

Application Process

The Foundation accepts applications for conservation on a rolling basis; there is no deadline to apply. If funds are awarded, the Foundation will consider the significance of the artwork and its condition to decide with the assistance of advisory conservators if conservation should be handled by a conservator that it appoints, in which case the Foundation will pay the costs of shipping and insurance. Otherwise, the Foundation will require an appraisal from the applicant’s local and/or preferred conservator.
